Soulpax is Miami Indie Funk

About

Soulpax is a Miami indie funk band celebrated for their modern grooves and electrifying R&B flair. Led by the dynamic Julia Camayd, whose vocals were once blessed by Whitney Houston herself, the band delivers a unique and soul-stirring experience to the Florida music scene.

Opening for acts like the Marshall Tucker Band & Robert Randolph, and resonating with fans of Kat Wright, Soulpax has also been compared to Vulfpeck and Hiatus Kaiyote, offering a contemporary twist that captivates their audience. Their innovative approach to music earned them a spot as a top 50 USA Tiny Desk finalist in 2018, underscoring their significant impact and rising status in the indie music landscape.

Julian Harris, the guitarist and producer of Soulpax, describes the band's sound as equal parts of diverse genres, mixing 1/4 cup each of smooth jazz, energetic rock, indie pop, and groovy disco. Next, marinate the blend in heavy, pulsating riffs to ensure every tune is saturated with rhythm, before adding a generous helping of powerhouse vocals to elevate the ensemble. The mix is then slathered in extra hot fat grooves, sprinkled with catchy guitar solos for complexity, and baked at the fiery passion of 420 degrees, until the chorus unmistakably bumps in your head, creating a unique, unforgettable sound experience.

In 2024, with the release of their latest single “LOOK DOWN THE BARREL,” Soulpax is set to deepen their engagement with fans online, evolving from their original Retro Soul sound to a more indie funk flavor.
